An academic centre of research in the philosophy, psychology, anthropology and neuropharmacology of psychedelics

Education Community

Through the following courses, taught by world-leading academics, both online and in person in Exeter (first cohort September 2025 admissions open now)  we carve a unique path within academia, supporting the maturation of this field.

MSc Psychedelics: Mind, Medicine and Culture. Learn about psychedelic therapy, neuroscience, anthropology, ethics, metaphysics and research methods as key components of psychedelic studies.

MSc Psychedelics: Mind, Medicine and Culture (Online). Enhance your knowledge and understanding of key theories and approaches to psychedelics in a interdisciplinary programme, building on psychology and philosophy.

PGCert Psychedelics: Mind, Medicine and Culture (Online).

This programme has been developed not only for therapists, counsellors and psychiatrists who are interested in branching out into the psychedelic sphere.

We also have a lively group of PhD students. With all these programmes our aim is to nurture and train future thought leaders in psychedelic research.

Research Community

Through our research, we aim to use psychedelics not just to improve human health but for the flourishing and healing of both the human and non-human world. Here is a sample of our current research projects:

Peace-building work in Israel and Palestine (led by Leor Roseman); Increasing accessibility of psychedelic assisted therapy in the UK NHS through Phase 3 clinical trial (led by Celia Morgan); Using metaphysics in psychedelic integration (led by Peter Sjostedt-Hughes); Indigenous rights in psychedelic research (led by Christine Hauskeller); Traditional ecological knowledge systems and dark green religions (led by Andy Letcher).

Creative and Wider Community

Through our colloquium series we invite the wider community in to consider new perspectives in the psychedelic field.

We also engage through our creative outputs, for example our ’Psychedelic Mayhem’ where the whole team came together in Exeter Phoenix to read our poetry, make music and art and together explore liminal spaces.

We are frequent contributors to documentaries, podcasts and talk series.
